Competition will be a standard 3 x 10 shot matches at 600 yards.
NRAA rules will apply with A, B, C grades, shooting on standard IFCA targets with F Standard, F Open & FTR shooting proposed to be on the Silver Mountain electronic target system.
All shooters must be a member of either the VRA (Victorian Rifle Association) or the SSAA (Sporting Shooters Association of Australia) for Insurance purposes. No exceptions will be made.
All events are mixed, with no age restriction, and cater equally for males and females.
Medals will be awarded for 1st place in every grade at all ranges provided the grade/division is contested by at least two competitors.
Medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd will be awarded to all grades for the days aggregate.

Venue, Date & Time
This year the event will be conducted at the Castlemaine Rifle Range, 74 Tomkies Road, Castlemaine on Friday 10th of October 2025
Shooting will commence at 10.00 hours sharp with all competitors required to be at the range for a pre shoot briefing at 09.00. This briefing is mandatory for all shooters.
Everybody attending the event must sign into the VRA/Castlemaine Rifle Range visitor book giving their full name and contact details for Insurance purposes at the morning briefing.
Facilities
Castlemaine Rifle Range is conveniently located just an hour and a half drive from Melbourne, in the Central Victorian town of Castlemaine. With a 900yard range capability, this facility conducts Rifle Competitions for local clubs as well as annual prize meetings.
Food and beverages – Castlemaine Rifle Club will be selling sandwiches and hotdogs on the day. Can you please advise on your entry form if you intend to buy these from the range so catering numbers can be determined.
Tea and coffee making facilities will be available.
Toilet facilities are available at the range.
Under no circumstances can alcohol be consumed on the range or its facilities.
Special Instructions
Hearing protection must be worn on the actual range at all times unless advised otherwise from the Range Officers. It's encouraged that all attending this event should supply their own ear protection however, disposable ear plugs will be available on the day and distributed at the morning briefing.
All shooters/competitors will potentially be expected to mark targets at some point on the day. Details of this will be advised at the morning briefing.
F Standard & FTR shooters are restricted to .308 and .223 calibres, as per NRAA rules.
F Open shooters are restricted to any calibre and projectile up to and including 8mm.
Both F Standard and F Open will use a bi-pod or rest, as per NRAA rules.
COMPETITORS MAY ENTER F STANDARD AND/OR F OPEN, ALONG WITH THEIR NORMAL COMPETITION, PROVIDING THEIR FIREARMS AND CALIBRES COMPLY WITH NRAA RULES FOR THAT EVENT.
Range Officers will control the shooting proceeding on the day. It is expected of all attending the range on the day (including non-shooters) to follow all instructions of the range officers and/or their nominated delegates. Failure to comply, the individual(s) will be asked to leave the range. No refund under such circumstances will be provided.
The Castlemaine Rifle Range committee/council reserves to right to restrict any person from entering the range at their discretion. In addition to this, they reserve the right to ask any person who is attending the event (actually on the range) to leave the range if, so directed as per Castlemaine Rifle Range Cub rules, policy and procedures. No refund under such circumstances will be provided.
