AFL 9s is easy to play, not too physically demanding and provides an environment whereby participation, enjoyment and safety are a priority. A fast, fun, free-flowing game that involves 9 players on each team playing on a smaller field. Best of all AFL 9s is 'touch football' with no tackling or bumping, making it suitable for everyone.
The game is played on a field that is divided into three zones. Teams score by kicking the ball into their scoring zone to forwards who are the only players permitted to score. Teams consist of three backs, three middles and three forwards. Once the game is in progress players can move freely across all three zones. The game consists of 2x20 minute halves and has unlimited interchange.
The game is played on a reduced size field - a standard sized AFL field can comfortably fit two fields side by side.
